EARLY LIFE
Born into a devoted christian home on 27th September 1990, Steve’s hobby has been music from age four. His passion for music made him join the teen choir where the propagation of the good news of salvation began. He was born in Zamfara where all his early life was lived before moving to Abuja.
EDUCATION
Growing up, Steve had wanted to be a lawyer. This aspiration made him obtain a Diploma in Law from the University of Abuja. He however returned to his place of birth, Zamfara to study Office Technology and Management in Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda in 20(withheld)
MUSIC CAREER
The angelic voice vocalist started his music ministry from childhood, even when he hadn’t discovered himself. He started singing as early as 4 years old in St. Anglican Church Choir. The passion and his outstanding performance as a drummer and lead vocalist promoted him to a band called the Deacon Band where he stepped up the preaching of the gospel through music. He had so much passion reaching out to people through music and was being used by the holy spirit to bless his listeners, even as a child. His talent was never commercialized until the worldwide acceptance gave room for it.
THE FAME
Steve Okolo rose to stardom fully in 2015 following the release of his biggest hit song dubbed “You Are Great”. The song which spread like wildfire in a few weeks after it’s release was a shock to the star, who was just expressing himself about the magnanimity of the most high God. “Everything written about You is great” is the most popular line in the song that exploded the super star since 2015 and in 2016 when the visuals was released by a video Director named C-ri Snow on the 9th of October.
The song which earned him several awards, nominations, millions of views and streams across all digital platforms, had once been a church anthem – which was the simplest worship song anyone could sing.
He has since the release of the song, been at the top of his game. Releasing other more hit gospels songs under his own record label – Lakelight Entertainment. He has also shared stage with top gospel music stars like Frank Edward, Dr Panam Pacy Paul, Tope Alabi, Don Moen, Sinach and many others.
